Pitchfork – Day 1 – July 18, 2014
Union Park, Chicago

So off we go with the retro return of Donna Summers by-way-of Giorgio Moroder, some plucky roadhouse rambling, melodic tonal spheres amassing in the SW park corner…and a little reminiscing and feeling somewhat middle aged upon realizing that Beck is now 44 (the sprite Italian DJ Giorgio Moroder is 74). One needs to remember that Beck released “Loser” in 1994…20 years ago, oh my.

Chicago weather could not have been better. Sparkling at 80˚ with a light breeze. Absolutely gorgeous! Younglings, hipsters, mariachis, bikers, grannies (yes grannies), and newbies trying to plug-in to the “future-past” made up a rather eclectic viewing public. Honestly, the atmosphere was quite healthy on so many levels. If the rest of the weekend follows this path, we are in for a rather memorable experience.
